Digital User Experience Professional

Commonly known as a UX Professional, it’s your job to improve the user journey across digital platforms.

Overview

Digital User Experience (UX) Professionals work on digital projects across a range of platforms including websites, mobile, apps and email campaigns to make them more user-friendly, efficient and appealing.

You’ll use your technical aptitude, visual awareness and specialist software tools to create accessible, aesthetically appealing and meaningful applications and sites.

The best websites and apps are easy to use and understand, and it’s your job to ensure that’s the case.

You’ll be involved in the design of digital products and services for specific target groups and end users, and you’ll work collaboratively with other members of the digital team and the wider business to ensure that products and services meet client needs.

You’ll also need a good understanding of business goals and user behaviour, and you’ll need to be aware of return on investment (ROI) from your digital projects, such as the conversion rates of a website. You’ll use analytics to inform and communicate improvements needed regarding a site’s usability.

Qualifications

You’ll usually need a degree in a relevant subject such as graphic design or digital marketing, as well as a keen interest in web and applications design. 

Typically, you’ll need around three years’ experience working in a design role and working knowledge of the Adobe creative suite as well as experience of digital coding.

A relevant qualification such as a certification in Google Analytics would also be useful.
