You’ll be involved from the very start of the construction project, identifying, securing and managing contracts; and you’ll see the project right through to completion to ensure work is carried out on time and within budget.

You may be in charge of a large single scheme, or you could be juggling several smaller projects at once.

From new housing developments to major road schemes, you could work across a range of sectors and you’ll be the first point of contact for members of the public, clients, site managers and sub-contractors.

Health and safety matters are a key part of your role and you’ll be the one managing client expectations.

From managing disputes to negotiating contracts, it’s a varied role that is sure to keep you on your toes.

Salary

Newly trained Contracts Managers can earn around £25,000 – £35,000, with those trained and experienced earning up to £45,000.

Senior, chartered or master contracts managers can earn around of £45,000 – £70,000.

Salaries typically depend on location, employer and level of responsibility.

There are no set qualifications, though employers will usually look for an HNC/HND or a degree in a subject such as project management, construction management or engineering.
