Also known as a Computer Programmer, you’ll certainly need to be tech-savvy for a career as a Software Developer. 

You’ll be playing a key role in the design, installation, testing and maintenance of software systems, and you could work in many areas including web and app development.

The programs you create are likely to help businesses be more efficient and provide a better service. You might be responsible for writing and coding individual programmes or providing an entirely new software resource.

Sometimes you may also use ‘off the shelf’ software, and you’ll be required to modify and integrate this into an existing network to meet the needs of the business.

You’ll need to have a thorough understanding of computer systems and applications, as well as an excellent grasp of mathematics to understand programming.

Salary

Graduates can expect to earn around £25,000, while experienced developers at the top of their game can earn around £70,000.
